The Fraunhofer Institute for Large Structures in Production Engineering IGP in Rostock focuses on tasks in the field of production and manufacturing of large structures.

On the basis of applied research, concepts for product and process innovations are developed and realised for many future-oriented branches of the economy such as shipbuilding and steel construction, energy and environmental technology, rail and commercial vehicle construction as well as mechanical and plant engineering within the framework of research and development projects with our cooperation partners.

Within the framework of a cooperation agreement, the Fraunhofer IGP works closely with the chairs of production engineering and joining technology of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Marine Technology at the University of Rostock and is a member of the Fraunhofer Transportation Alliance, the Fraunhofer Group for Production and various research associations and networks.
