CAN in Automation (CiA) is the international user and manufacturer association for CAN (Controller Area Network), established in March 1992 and located in Nuremberg, Germany.
The aim is to provide an unbiased platform for future developments of the CAN protocol and to promote the image of the CAN technology.
The CiA members develop jointly specifications for various CAN application areas and supports actively the international standardization of CAN-based solutions.
The nonprofit association offers seminars and conferences for sharing of knowledge and experience. CiA releases also the CAN Newsletter magazine (downloadable PDF) since 1992 quarterly. Since 2012, the CAN Newsletter Online is published.

In July 2023, CiA had more than 700 members all over the world.
